Physicians

Dr. Medynski (she/her/hers) grew up in Nova Scotia and then attended McGill University for her BSc degree in Biology.  She graduated from McMaster University with her MD in 2000, and then returned to McGill to complete her family medicine residency.  She moved to the Okanagan with her husband and has been practicing here since 2002.  She enjoys the varied scope of family medicine, and in addition to her days in the office at Mountain View, she works at the Urgent and Primary Care Centre and at KGH as a hospitalist on the inpatient rehabilitation unit.  Dr. Medynski also has an interest in end-of-life care, seeing patients at Hospice and as a provider of Medical Assistance in Dying.  When not at work, Dr. Medynski enjoys spending time outdoors with her friends and family.  Looking after her three active kids and various pets takes up most of the rest of her time, but she does also enjoy reading a good book.

Dr. Tam (she/her/hers) has lived in the Pacific Northwest most of her life. She completed her medical training in Vancouver in 2012, and after a few years of working in rural BC and the Yukon, she moved to Kelowna in 2017. When she is not at Mountain View, she is seeing patients at Rutland Aurora Health Centre, where she specializes in addiction medicine, refugee health, transgender care, and infectious diseases. In her free time, she can be found mountain biking, trail running, and cross-country skiing with her husband and their dog.

Dr. Thomasse (she/her/hers) grew up in Saskatchewan, where she then attended Medical School.  In 1989, she moved to Ottawa to practice Family Medicine until moving to Kelowna until 2006.  As well as working at Mountain View Medical Clinic, she works at Outreach Urban Health, a multidisciplinary clinic focusing on care of marginalized people.  She is also a member of the regional Sexual Assault Response Team at KGH ER.  When not at work, she likes to snowboard and play tennis, take dance classes, play piano and garden.  She lives with her husband, two grown daughters (soon to fledge the nest), and one senior dog.

Dr. Docherty graduated from Aberdeen Medical School in the north east of Scotland. She completed 3.5 years of post graduate training prior to coming to northern Alberta (Slave Lake) as a rural family doctor and emergency physician.
She moved to Kelowna in 1988 and has been in her family practice from then until the end of January 2021. Dr. Natalie Angus has taken over her patients but she provides some locum support to the practice on Mondays and when other physicians are on holiday.
She enjoys all aspects of family medicine and is happy to provide some minor surgeries and procedures in the office.
